Appliance Repair In Port Coquitlam

Port Coquitlam is one of the most family-oriented communities in the Tri-Cities, and the housing here reflects that. It’s a city of single-family homes, townhouse complexes, and a growing number of mid-rise condos, each with its own set of appliance repair needs that keep our technicians busy year-round.

Mary Hill, in the northeast corner along the Pitt River, is one of PoCo’s oldest residential areas. Most homes here were built in the 1960s and 1970s, and many still have their original electrical panels and plumbing runs. We see a high volume of calls from Mary Hill for aging fridges with failing compressors, dryers with worn-out heating elements, and gas stoves where the igniters have corroded over decades of use. The older dryer vent routing in these homes also tends to collect lint in ways that newer installations avoid, which leads to longer dry times and thermal fuse failures.

Oxford Heights sits on the hillside south of the Lougheed Highway. These are mostly 1980s and 1990s-era family homes with larger kitchens and more appliance capacity than the Mary Hill stock. Double ovens, built-in dishwashers, and full-size washer-dryer pairs are standard. The most common appliance problems we handle in Oxford Heights involve dishwasher drain pump wear from heavy family use, oven door seal degradation, and washer machine vibration issues on the upper floors of split-level homes where the laundry room sits above grade.

Citadel Heights, developed primarily through the late 1990s and 2000s, brought newer construction with updated wiring and plumbing. These homes tend to have gas ranges, wine coolers, and larger refrigerators. Appliance issues here are usually electronic: control board failures on gas stoves, temperature sensor problems in wine coolers, and ice maker malfunctions in French-door fridges that are hitting the 8-10 year mark.

Riverwood and the Downtown core represent PoCo’s newer development. Riverwood’s townhouses along the Pitt River waterfront feature compact appliance configurations similar to what you’d find in newer Coquitlam developments. Ventless dryers, 24-inch dishwashers, and slide-in ranges are common. Downtown PoCo has seen several new condo buildings go up near the West Coast Express station, and these units use space-saving stacking washer-dryers and built-in microwaves that need regular maintenance as the buildings age past their initial 5-year mark.
