Reliable Appliance Repair Serving Abbotsford & the Fraser Valley Since 2012

Abbotsford is one of the fastest-growing cities in British Columbia, and the mix of housing here creates very different appliance repair needs depending on where you are in the city.

Newer subdivisions in Auguston, Eagle Mountain, and Upper Clearbrook are full of modern homes with Samsung, LG, and Bosch appliance suites. These units rely heavily on electronic controls and smart diagnostics, and they need skilled technicians who are current on the latest models. Warranty-period breakdowns are common in these areas. Our factory-authorized certifications for Bosch, Thermador, Electrolux, and Blomberg mean we can handle those repairs directly instead of making you wait weeks for the manufacturer to send someone.

Established neighbourhoods like Clearbrook, Sandy Hill, and the central Abbotsford core are a different story. Many homes were built between the 1960s and 1990s, and the appliances in them range from 5 to 20 years old. Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Maytag, GE, and Frigidaire are the most common brands we see here. The usual calls are refrigerator sealed system issues, washing machine motor and pump failures, and gas stove igniter replacements. Our techs carry genuine parts for all of these, so most repairs get done in a single visit.

West Abbotsford and the Matsqui area sit right on the line between suburban and agricultural. Properties here often include outbuildings with standalone freezers, secondary refrigerators in garages, and commercial appliances tied to farming operations. Those units get worked hard and most appliance repair companies in the Greater Vancouver area won’t touch them. We will.

Further out toward Sumas Prairie, Bradner, and Mt Lehman, many properties run on well water and septic. That well water creates mineral buildup in dishwashers and washing machines, something we see throughout the eastern Fraser Valley. Our techs check for hard water damage as part of every diagnostic in these areas.

We’ve been providing reliable appliance repair in Abbotsford and surrounding areas since 2012. Most same-day service requests placed before noon have a technician at your door within hours. That kind of quick response time is what a local appliance repair company should provide.

Recent Appliance Repair in Abbotsford - Case Study

The Problem: A family in the Clearbrook neighbourhood of Abbotsford called in about a Maytag dryer (MDG9700AWW gas unit) that had intermittent issues with no heat being produced during operation. The dryer tumbled and ran a full cycle but every other load the clothes still came out damp and cold.

The Diagnosis: We had a technician out within a few hours of their call for a same-day repair. Our technician confirmed that the drum was spinning and the gas supply was properly hooked up, but just as the customer stated, no heat seemed to be present during the operational cycle. The technician pulled the unit out, disassembled the bottom panel to visually see the heater core and noticed that the igniter was glowing red hot when the dryer ran, but there was no flame, and no heat. This is where most companies would just start by replacing the igniter and hoping that it works. Our technician dug deeper after further disassembly, he checked the resistance on the igniter was within the recommended range. Maytag actually uses two types of ignitors (silicon carbide and silicon nitride) so the resistance can read anywhere between 50 and 400 Ohms. This is why it’s super important to have the exact tech sheet for your model as a resistance reading in that huge range can be okay on one igniter but way off on another.

The technician then tested the solenoid gas coils and sure enough, one of the gas coils was reading slightly below range according to Whirlpool’s tech sheet spec. During their work they also noticed that the lint filter had a hairline crack in it which allowed some of the lint to slip right past into the blower housing.

The Fix: Our technician replaced the solenoid coils as a kit and the lint trap for the customer with a recommendation to replace the igniter within 12 months as it was last replaced well over 5 years ago. However, there was no immediate reason to replace it, and the igniter cost over $90 for this model.

Three short test cycles on site showed the dryer now ran and ignited reliably, and the consumer confirmed they didn’t experience any more issues when we checked in a few days later.

Total cost: $250 + 150 in parts. Total time on-site: 1.5 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

How fast can you get a technician to my Abbotsford home?
For same-day service requests placed before noon, we typically have a technician at your door within 2-4 hours. We dispatch to the Abbotsford area daily, so you’re not waiting for someone to make a special trip from Vancouver. Afternoon requests usually get a next-morning appointment.
Is your pricing the same in Abbotsford as it is in Vancouver?
Identical. Our pricing is identical regardless of where you are: a $100 diagnostic that goes toward your repair labour, plus average repair labour of $225-$300. No travel fees, distance surcharges, or mileage charges for Abbotsford service calls. Some companies advertise a low call-out fee then charge hourly labour on top. We don’t. The price we quote is the price you pay.
Do you repair commercial appliances on farm properties in Abbotsford?
Yes. We regularly work on commercial appliances at Abbotsford’s agricultural properties, including commercial-style ranges, high-capacity freezers, and heavy-duty laundry equipment. If it’s a residential or light-commercial model from a brand we service, we can fix it. Fully industrial equipment might be outside our scope, but we’ll tell you that upfront rather than waste your time.
What happens if you can't fix my appliance on the first visit?
If the specific replacement part isn’t on our van, we’ll order it directly from the manufacturer and come back, usually within 2-3 business days. You won’t pay again for the return visit. That’s all covered under your original repair charge. It doesn’t happen often though. We finish about 85% of repairs on the first trip because our vans carry parts for the most common issues we see across Abbotsford.
My appliance is making strange noises but still working. Should I call now or wait?
Call now. Grinding, buzzing, clicking, rattling noises are almost always early signs of something wearing out. Catching it early usually means a simpler, cheaper repair. If you wait until the appliance dies completely, a minor fix can turn into a major one, and you risk damaging other components in the process. The $100 diagnostic goes toward your repair labour if a repair is needed, so getting it checked early costs you nothing extra.
