Recent Appliance Repair in Surrey — Case Study
The Problem: A homeowner in Panorama Ridge called about their Samsung French-door refrigerator that had stopped cooling on the fridge side. The freezer was still working fine, but everything on the refrigerator shelves was at room temperature. They’d lost a full load of groceries by the time they reached us.
The Diagnosis: Our technician arrived the same afternoon. The freezer compartment was running normally, which pointed to an airflow issue rather than a compressor failure. After accessing the evaporator behind the back panel, the problem was obvious: the entire evaporator coil was encased in a thick layer of frost. The defrost heater had burned out, and the defrost thermostat wasn’t cycling properly either. This is one of Samsung’s most common issues on this model line after 4-6 years.
The Fix: Replaced the defrost heater and thermostat with Samsung OEM parts, then manually defrosted the evaporator coil on-site. Checked the drain line while we were in there to make sure meltwater was flowing properly and wouldn’t refreeze and cause a secondary problem. Ran the unit through a full cooling cycle and confirmed the fridge side was pulling down to 37°F within two hours. About 90 minutes on-site.
The Outcome: The fridge has been holding temperature perfectly since. The homeowner had already been browsing replacements at $2,800+ for a comparable French-door model. The repair cost them a fraction of that, and all parts and labour are covered under our warranty.
