Appliance Repair Cost In Vancouver

A repair starts at $100 for the diagnostic, and that $100 comes off your repair labour if you go ahead. Labour runs from $100 to $300 or more depending on which appliance it is and how much work the fault takes, and parts are quoted before we order them.

Our Pricing Policy

Four numbers cover almost every job we do. You hear all of them before a tool comes out of the van.

Diagnostic

$100

A Red Seal technician comes out, finds the fault and quotes the repair. It is flat, so a fault that takes two hours to trace costs the same as one that takes fifteen minutes. Decide against the repair and the $100 plus GST is your whole bill.

Repair labour

$100 - $300+

Most repairs sit between $225 and $300, with your $100 diagnostic already inside that. Simple part swaps land at the bottom, machines that need stripping down land at the top, and built-in or high-end units that have to be uninstalled first go above it. You get your number before we start.

Parts

Quoted first

Billed separately from labour, and always quoted before we order. A dryer thermal fuse is $15 to $30. An oven control board is $150 to $400. You hear the part price alongside the labour and decide from there.

Specialty work

Quoted on site

Fridge sealed system repairs run $800 to $1,500 in labour plus parts and supplies. Washer transmission and tub jobs work the same way: hours of mechanical work, priced once the technician has had the machine open.

Every repair carries a 6-month warranty on parts and labour. Weekday and weekend appointments cost the same, 8AM to 8PM, seven days a week.

Appliance Repair Prices In Vancouver, By Appliance

The tables below give our labour by appliance, the parts that usually come with each repair, and why a dishwasher that needs a pump costs less than one that has to come out of the cabinet first.

Our labour column is what we charge to do the work. The parts column is what the part itself costs, and we quote it before ordering. Every row starts at $100 because that is all you pay if you take the diagnosis and decide not to repair the appliance.

Why Two Repairs On The Same Appliance Cost Different Amounts

Appliance repair is priced by what the fault takes, which is why we quote after the diagnostic instead of over the phone. Some faults are a part at the front of the machine and twenty minutes with a screwdriver. Others mean lifting a fridge out of a cabinet run, or rebuilding a transmission with the washer in pieces on the kitchen floor, which is most of an afternoon.

The jobWhat it takesWhere the labour lands
You decide not to repair itWe diagnose the fault and quote the repair. You take the diagnosis and stop there.$100 plus GST, and nothing else
A part that swaps straight inA thermal fuse on a dryer, an igniter on a gas oven, a door switch on a microwave. The part sits at the front of the machine and the visit runs half an hour to an hour. The bottom of the $225-$300 band
A part buried in the machineDrum rollers behind the bulkhead, a washer door boot, an oven control board behind the back plate. The appliance comes apart and goes back together before anything is tested. The top of the $225-$300 band
A built-in or high-end unitA panel-ready fridge, a wall oven or an integrated cooktop that has to come out of the cabinetry before anyone can reach a screw. Sub-Zero, Wolf, Thermador, Miele and Gaggenau jobs often start with an hour of uninstalling.$300 or more, quoted before we start
A mechanical rebuildA washer transmission, a drum bearing and seal kit, a corroded spider arm. The machine is stripped to the tub and rebuilt, which is hours of work rather than minutes.Quoted after the diagnostic
Sealed system workA compressor or a refrigerant leak on a fridge. It needs an ODP licence, brazing, recovery and a recharge, so it is priced on its own. See refrigerator sealed system repair.$800 - $1,500 in labour, plus parts and supplies
A second technicianA heavy lift, a gas line, or a stacked laundry set that has to come down off the wall.$125 on top of the repair

This is also why a phone estimate is worth very little. Two customers describe a washer that will not drain in the same words, and one has a sock in the pump while the other has a seized bearing. The diagnostic is what tells the two apart, and it is $100 either way.

What The $100 Diagnostic Covers

A technician arrives inside your booked window, runs the appliance, reads the error register where the model has one, tests the suspect components against the manufacturer service sheet, and tells you what failed and why. You get the part numbers, the labour price and an honest read on whether the repair is worth doing on a machine that age.

Our technicians hold Red Seal certification (ITA# K42107427) and we carry a Technical Safety BC gas and ODP licence (BC30591), which is what lets us work on gas ranges and dryers and handle refrigerant. We are also a registered warranty repairer for Electrolux, Frigidaire, Bosch, Danby, Beko, Blomberg, Fulgor Milano, SHARP, Gaggenau and Thermador, so an in-warranty fault is often billed to the brand instead of to you. More about the team is on our about us page.

Appliance Repair Cost Questions

How much does appliance repair cost in Vancouver?

A repair starts with a $100 diagnostic, and that $100 comes off your labour when you go ahead with the work. Labour on most appliances runs $225 to $300, so the usual bill lands between $250 and $450 once a common part is in it. Sealed system work on a fridge is the exception at $800 to $1,500 in labour plus parts and supplies.

What happens if I decide not to repair the appliance?

You pay the $100 diagnostic plus GST and nothing else, with no parts or labour on top of it. You keep the diagnosis, including the model and part numbers, so you can weigh the repair against a replacement on your own time.

Why does the labour price change from one repair to the next?

Two things move it: which appliance it is, and what the fault turns out to be. A dryer thermal fuse is at the front of the machine and takes minutes. A washer transmission means stripping the machine to the tub and rebuilding it, which is hours. Built-in and high-end appliances add an uninstall before the repair even starts. We quote the number after the diagnostic, before any work begins.

Are parts included in the labour price?

No. Parts are billed separately and we quote them before we order anything. A thermal fuse is $15 to $30, a fridge door gasket is $80 to $200, a control board can be $150 to $400. You hear the part price and the labour price together, and you decide from there.

Do you charge more for evenings or weekends?

No. Weekday and weekend appointments are the same price, and we book them 8AM to 8PM seven days a week.

Is it worth repairing, or should I replace the appliance?

Compare the quote against the replacement. A mid-range dishwasher is $600 to $1,000, a washer $700 to $1,500, a fridge $1,200 to $2,500, a freestanding range $1,000 to $2,500, and a wall oven $1,500 to $4,000 installed. Against those numbers most repairs are worth doing, and our technician will say plainly when yours is not.

Do you charge to come out and give a quote?

The $100 diagnostic is the quote. It is flat, so whether the fault takes fifteen minutes or two hours to find, the price does not move, and it comes off your labour if you proceed. Book it online at any hour or call 604-265-3852 between 8AM and 8PM.
