This is the first thing we check on a recirculating Falmec, and it resolves a large share of calls with no part at all. Carbon.Zeo panels are designed to be regenerated in a domestic oven on a set schedule, not replaced. Skip that and the zeolite saturates, static pressure climbs, and the hood moves progressively less air while the motor sounds completely normal.

The tell is a gradual decline over a year or two rather than a sudden failure, and a motor that still changes pitch across speeds. We check the panel condition, regenerate or replace it, and show you the schedule for your model so it does not come back.

The NRS mounting damps motor noise deliberately, which means a bearing that is drying out stays quiet longer than it would on a conventional hood and is further gone by the time anyone calls. A hum with no rotation usually points at the run capacitor rather than the motor. A grind or a rumble that worsens with speed is the bearing.

We test the capacitor first because it is inexpensive and it fails far more often than motors do. If the bearing has gone, we quote the blower assembly against the cost of the hood, which on a ceiling or island Falmec is a conversation worth having before anyone starts work.

Falmec uses capacitive touch panels rather than mechanical switches. Grease works past the glass edge over years and sits on the sensor traces, and the panel then either stops registering or starts registering presses that never happened. A hood that turns itself on is almost always this, not a haunted control board.

Cleaning the sensor side sometimes recovers it. Where the trace is corroded the control PCB is the repair, and it is a stocked part for current models and an order against your model and serial for the older Stella and Cielo units.

Almost never the LEDs themselves. Falmec runs its LED strips and spots off a driver, and the driver is what fails - usually to flicker first, then to nothing. People replace bulbs on units that do not have replaceable bulbs and conclude the hood is finished.

We test the driver output before ordering anything. On integrated strip lighting the strip and driver sometimes come as one assembly, and we will tell you that before you pay for a diagnosis expecting a five dollar part.

The perimeter designs draw air through a narrow slot around a central panel, which is what makes them quiet and also what makes them sensitive to grease. As the channel loads up, velocity through the remaining gap rises and the hood starts to whistle. Condensed grease then collects in the channel and eventually drips back onto the cooktop.

The fix is a proper strip and clean of the channel and the grease trap behind it, not a stronger setting. If it has been running loaded for a long time we check the blower housing too, because that is where the grease goes next.

A hood that has never worked well is an installation question, not a repair. Island and ceiling-integrated Falmecs sit further from the cooktop than a wall hood and frequently run a long duct with several elbows to reach an exterior wall. Undersize that duct, or terminate it in a cap with a restrictive flap, and the hood will never hit its rated airflow no matter what the motor does.
